QR Code Link to This Post Hi. I am looking for anyone who flies quite a bit and has racked up a lot of miles that they won't use--or will expire before they get a chance to use them. I am looking for frequent flier mile donations to help me fly from Boston, or Portland Maine to Nashville, Huntsville, or Chattanooga so that I can assist with the care of a family member-my father.
My father is 80 years old (and lives in southern Tennessee with my mother, who is 81) and had a stroke in October. Thankfully, the stroke was caught in time so that it did not permanently take away his ability to speak and do everyday tasks, but he is now in a rehab facility near their home so he can "relearn" how to walk, talk, sit, stand, get dressed, and go about his day normally and so many other things that all healthy people take for granted. All of my sisters have visited him at least once, as I have done too, but they live all over the continental United States and have full time jobs which makes it harder for them to get away to see him and help my mother with normal, everyday tasks. I am in-between jobs. presently, and therefore I am able to take the time to spend with him. My father has always been the one to run the household, and now it is up to my mother, who doesn't know all the ins and outs of everything he was responsible for. When we ask when he will be able to come home, we get the same pat answer--everyone is different, and makes recovery progress in varying frames of time. We were hoping he would be home by Christmas, but it seems clear he won't.
Anyway, I was hoping to get in touch with someone or several people who have a lot of miles they won't use, because I think I'm going to be needing to make numerous trips to and from Tennessee. I know that going will help lighten the load for my mother, as well as being near my father for moral support.
I used to fly US Air before they merged with American, but now I try to fly Delta because their prices seem cheaper. Now I don't mind flying ANY airline, as long as it gets me there in one piece. And as far as a bunch of people asking for help around the holidays but are very vague with the details, I can provide all the proof of the information I have stated for anyone who wants to donate miles because I am not wanting to take advantage of anyone--I only want to be with my father during his time in the rehab facility and after coming home to help my parents get their lives back on track as much as normal!!
